Ben Stevens, a
longtime Jacksonville coach, is being honored by the World Baseball
Federation with its first Lifetime Achievement Award for his service
to the baseball community in the state of Florida.
Besides running
leagues and teams in Jacksonville, Stevens was the Commissioner of the
Connie Mack Elite Baseball League - a statewide league - for three
years. He has run the Five Star Baseball League in Jacksonville for
many years as well.
Through the
Jacksonville Warriors, Stevens has helped countless players receive
college baseball scholarships that have allowed them to continue their
education at the next level. As recently as the 2006 season the
Warriors won the World Baseball Federation Osceola County Invitational
- beating the nationally-regarded Central Florida Renegades and
Orlando Scorpions in the semis and finals respectively.
